The warm flow of rain pitter pattered on the muddy soil of Duddle Farm. Though it seemed to rain every day of the year, it was this time of year that it was supposedly in season. And with every slopping hole of mud, blade of grass, shoot of grain, and mullberry bush, the comprised land gave way to a name simply as Duddle Farm.

The day was clear, blazing sun warmed the earth in all crannies of the soil, and the butterflies were out again. Dimitri, who loved to stroll the walkways of his garden, was lying against a dark birch laden with a rough but light and smoothing hide.
